The orchestra is fortunate to have an accomplished, creative and enthusiastic replacement in Eddie Rackley.
Now in his fourth season conducting The Panama City POPS, Maestro Rackley brings a lifetime of musical education and experience to the POPS podium. Introduced to the clarinet at age six, and progressing to piano at age eight, Eddie chose an education devoted to music. He earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Miami, where he excelled under the tutelage of Dr. Alford Reed.
His degrees in music education and applied choral conducting afforded rich and varied professional opportunities. Eddie's vocal career led him to engagements as a singer with the Jackie Gleason Television Show, as well as engagements with Bing Crosby, Milton Berle, Victor Borge, Maureen O'Hara, Burt Parks and several other notable entertainers.
Maestro Rackley was instrumental in creating the 1976 Bi-Centennial musical program which aired nationally from Miami Beach. He has formed numerous Christian groups for both vocal and band, and has traveled and performed extensively throughout the United States. Additionally he has been record producer for several Christian artists, church choirs and orchestras, and has appeared as guest conductor for many orchestras. His reputation as instrumental and choral clinician spans the southeastern U.S.
